Confidential Settlement — False Arrest / Imprisonment by SEMO County

Settlement · March 2020

A.G., a 34-year-old mother was driving in rural Southeast, Missouri with her infant and other passengers. She was pulled over for an equipment violation which later turned out to be false. She was incarcerated in the County Jail for 9 days and charged with a controlled substance charge where the arresting officer later testified under oath that there was no reason for the stop and the felony charges were later dismissed; she and her baby were physically separated for 5 months. A.G. then asserted a claim for false arrest/false imprisonment against the County and the claim was settled before suit was filed.
