Civil Rights Shooting of Parolee by Parole Officer

Verdict · January 2012

In 2012 Senior Partner, Steve Walsh, was part of a team representing the minor children of a parolee who had been shot by a parole officer in Cape Girardeau. The parole officer claimed self defense; independent witnesses indicated he was trying to flee from the parole officer. The parole officer shot the parolee in the back (who was unarmed) and he died a few minutes later. After a two day trial the federal jury in Cape Girardeau returned a verdict for $1 Million Dollars. This case is now on appeal in the Federal Appellate Court.
